How to use the TV

This lovely vacation home has Samsung Smart TVs in the living area and in each one of the bedrooms.

The Tvs are Samsung Tvs and you can watch TV through the Spectrum app.

Turn on the TV with the Samsung remote. Select the Spectrum App to watch cable TV, as shown in the video on the right.

You can change channels with the up / down arrow on the roku remote. The left Arrow is the channel guide.  To adjust the volume please use the Roku remote.

To go to the main menu of Roku, press Home, and you will find all the apps, or you can download additional apps if you want to.

If you want to use any other streaming service, just go to the Roku channels app, download the app of your liking, and log in using your own username and password (and don’t forget to logout before your checkout!).

How can I adjust the house temperature to my liking?

The AC thermostat is located upstairs in the left wall, at the end of the stairs. 

You can set it to cool or warm, and to adjust the temperature. The AC is programmed to cool up to a minimum temperature of 70F because, due to the local warm humid weather, at lower temp there’s a risk of freezing the unit. 

Just in case you missed the information in the listing, when the front or back doors are open for more than 5 minutes, the AC automatically turns off, also to prevent the unit from freezing. But it resumes operation once the doors are closed again. Please pay special attention to the back doors, to be entirely closed, because if it’s not, the sensor will detect it as open. To be on the safe side, re-open and close them tight.

Pool rules and Pool heating

Please avoid using glass tableware or glass bottles near the pool. You should use the plastic cups available for any poolside drinks.

Do not pour any kind of soap, bubbles, or any product to the water, because that wil require a special treatment to re-blance the water, that will be charged to the guest.

 

If you have requested the pool to be heated during your stay, please keep in mind that the temperature is set to 85-87 degrees to keep the water in clean safe conditions. Setting the temperature at a higher temperature creates the risk of growing algae. 

Chemicals are added weekly to make sure the water is clean and safe to swim in as often the PH levels can change due to pool use, rain etc. If the temperature is set too high then the pool chemicals burn off too quickly and the pool water can become cloudy or start to turn green.

Should the water level drop due to normal use and/or evaporation during your stay, please refill it up to the middle part of the skimmer using the provided hose. If you request the pool to be serviced and we find the malfunction is due to low water level, clogged system due to using oils, bubbles, or any other foreign substance, etc., we will charge you a minimum of $75 for the trip plus the work needed to put the pool back in working order.

WIFI seems to have problems:

In case WiFi does not work properly, please reboot the modem and wifi router. The modem (big black box) and wifi router (black tower) are inside a white cabinet inside the 1st level bedroom closet (same closet that has the electrical panel inside); please unplug both, wait one minute, plug it back, wait 5 minutes, and try to connect again. To confirm that that worked, you should see the SSID you were connected to with your device, disappear after you removed the power; after you plug it back, when the SSID (network name) is back visible on your device, you will be able to connect to it, and then test the connection again. 

Trash collection and recycling:

Trash is collected periodically. You must put it into trash bags because loose trash will not be collected. The place to deposit your trash bags is the bin outside, the brown plastic container that looks like a bench. Please be sure to firmly close the lid, because if the garbage is accessible for the racoons, you will find loose trash at your return. In case the bin is missing, please leave the garbage bag at the entrance of your vacation home and the garbage company will pick it up from there. It will be picked up between 8:30am and 1:00pm.

Unfortunatelly, there is no recycling at this resort. Please bag the recyclables too, and place them in the same bin as regular trash.

Kitchen or Bathroom Electrical Outlets do not seem to work

The electrical outlets in the kitchen are GFCI, so it is probably that the test button has been pressed by accident. Those outlets have a safety mechanism and stop functioning when the Test button is pressed. It is required to push back the Reset button to reset the breaker. 

Make sure that the reset button is not pressed in any of the restrooms, because if one is off, the electrical outlets in all the bathrooms are non functional.

The bathroom door was locked from the inside

Inside one of the kitchen drawers there is a Kwikset Interior Door Emergency Key ( a tool to unlock the doors).

The toilet is clogged

Please be mindful of the fact that Florida toilet systems cannot take anything other than a minimal amount of toilet paper. In the event of a plugged toilet please try using the plunger supplied in the house. In the event of an overflow please turn the stop valve off, located behind each toilet. If you require assistance, please call us immediately. Please note that the cost of calling a plumber due to misuse will be charge to the registered guest.

How to use the dishwasher:

To use the dishwasher, load the appliance with dirty dishes, placing soiled pots and pans on the lower rack and glassware and dishwasher-safe plastics on the top rack. Fill the detergent compartment with a detergent tablet (make sure you don’t mistake the dishwasher pod for a cloth washing machine pod!), select the desired program (we suggest using the Normal program), and upon closing the door, the cycle will begin. You can interrupt the cycle anytime by opening the door and will resume as soon as you close it back.

In the event the garbage disposal is clogged, do not use the dishwasher because both appliances use the same water discharge, and using the dishwasher will generate a water overflow in the kitchen floor and cabinets.

How to use the garbage disposal:

The garbage disposal on-off switch is at the left side of the sink. Please only throw food waste into it. 

DANGER: Keep your hands out of the garbage disposal. Never put grease, oil, non-food items, or any object such us metal or glass into a garbage disposal. Elements like a mac-and-cheese leftover, or pasta, will jam the mechanism, requiring a plumber to fix it. Please note that the cost of calling a plumber due to misuse will be charge to the registered guest.

In the event the garbage disposal is clogged, do not use the dishwasher because both appliances use the same water discharge, and using the dishwasher will generate a water overflow in the kitchen floor and cabinets.

Can I receive packages at the resort?

There is no mail room at Storey Lake. 

If you want to coordinate a delivery, please use the address of our vacation home, and have it done at your name. Some companies drop the packages at your door,  and others require for you to be there to receive them – that is to be confirmed iwth the delivery company of your choosing.
